Haslemere celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

2nd to 5th June 2022

Streets bedecked with Flags

To mark this remarkable occasion the streets will be decorated with Commonwealth Flags – marking the Queen’s contribution, not only to the UK, but to the whole Commonwealth.

Permanent Memorial

There will be celebrations over the Jubilee weekend but in addition a Tower Clock will be installed on the Haslewey Community Centre. This Jubilee Clock will be a permanent record of the Queen’s extraordinary record of Service.

The clock will be four faced and will chime the hours in the daytime. It will face directly on to Lion Green, where many of the town events are held throughout the year.

The cost will be met by public subscription. All donations are welcome – it will even be possible to sponsor a clock face (£2,500) – the weather-vane has already been sponsored. You can donate at Crowdfunder, or click here to open the Donation Form.

Bonfire and Fireworks

Come up to Woolmer Hill Sports Ground from 7.30 pm on Thursday 2nd June (car parking at Woolmer Hill School). At 8 pm the Rock Choir will be performing followed by the Harmonix Choir at 8.30 pm. A Procession will set off for the Bonfire at 9 pm (you can buy glow sticks and Union Jack hats on the day); the bonfire will be lit as a beacon at 9.15, as beacons are lit across the whole country at Sunset. When the Bonfire is lit, the Combined Choirs will sing songs from the Commonwealth and Last Night of the Proms. Food and drink will be available and a firework display will round off the evening. The picture is of the bonfire at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in Haslemere, 10 years’ ago.

Charter Fair

The Haslemere Charter Fair will be open from 11am to 5pm on Friday 3rd June 2022. This year it will have a Jubilee flavour and we are asking all stall holders to dress their stalls and themselves in an appropriate manner!

The High Street and West Street will be closed to traffic and the entire area turned into an arena where there will be many things to do, rides to enjoy and lots of stalls all offering a wide range of products and services and fun for all the family.

There is a free Courtesy Bus which follows a route from Shottermill (the bus stop outside the Working Man’s Club) direct to the Fair. The buses will run from 11:30am to 5:00pm. There is no entrance fee for visitors. Click here for details.
